Biafra: MASSOB Make Case For IPOB Over Arrest Of Jewish Protesters
Suspected IPOB members dressed in Jewish robe, protest in Umuahia, Abia, Tuesday, December 11.

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has backed the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying its members did the right thing by staging a protest in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

Concise News reports that members of the IPOB staged a protest on Tuesday, weeks after 33 members of the group were arrested in Nnewi, Anambra state, and paraded for purportedly killing a policeman.

Speaking on the protest, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Chris Ezike, in a telephone interview with The Nation, said the command arrested 37 members of the outlawed group.

Reacting to the arrest in a terse statement issued by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, MASSOB described what the IPOB members did as being in conformity with the Jewish religion and deserving of its support.

The statement said: “They are Jewish faithful in solidarity with the Biafran cause. What they did was right. We support them.

“Even the other religious bodies such as Catholic and Anglican have their own periods when they hold their own procession ceremonies. They performed their religious obligation and they have sympathy for Biafra.

“We were not involved but we support what they did.”

Meanwhile, the IPOB has issued a warning to Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and the state commissioner of police over the arrest.
