The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu has wondered why Jimi Agbaje is going trivial.
Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the commercial center for the 2019 elections, is running with the #FreeLagos mantra.
However, Sanwo-Olu has questioned Agbaje’s #FreeLagos mantra for the elections, wondering if Lagosians are living in bondage.
“Are you in shackles or bondage? In the 21st century, he is referring to freedom,” TVC quoted him as saying.
“Freedom from what? That you cannot move freely from here to your house? That you cannot pick your kids from school?
“Or you cannot buy things in the market? Why are we trivialising our lives as if we are living in some 16th-century regime?”
On reports that Igbos do not love the APC, he said: “It is just a perception. When I was in government, the longest-serving commissioner was Mr. Ben Akabueze, who is also the DG of Budget Office.
“In fact, if you were the Commissioner for Budget and Planning as of that time, you were like the de facto deputy governor because every commissioner comes to you.
“Also, the longest-serving member of the APC exco is Mr, Joe Igbokwe who has been there for 15 years.
“So, when you give an Igbo man the position of spokesman, what else can we talk about? These are just sentiments.”
