German-born, 19-year-old goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles if he gets a call up to the team.
This is coming just days after news filtered in that the Fortuna Düsseldorf goal-tender has caught the eyes of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.
According to Okoye, he has now made up his mind to play for the West Africans as he is ready to handle the pressures that that come with the job.
“Yes, I hope so. I feel so confident right now and I‘m getting better by the day,” the teenager told AOI Football.
“I hope that I get the chance cause I know I will take it and could help the Super Eagles in my own little way.
“Every player dreams of playing for their national team and if I get invited to the team it will be a huge step in my career and a proud moment for me.”
On his outing this term for the German side, he said: “Its been a good season so far.
“Yes, I played five straight games with the second team and won every game with two clean sheets and the practice with the first team helps me build more confidence.”
The player is born to a German mother and a Nigerian father.
He might get the nod for the three-time African champions’ 2019 African Cup of Nations tie with Seychelles, March.
