The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has declared that it is now headed by a Major General, Suleiman Kazaure, after its 45 years of establishment.
In a statement on Friday, NYSC disclosed that Kazaure was among the 29 Brigadier Generals promoted by the Nigerian Army to the rank of a Major General in its promotion exercise on Monday.
The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, said the DG’s administration had improved on staff welfare and the security of corps members nationwide.
Adeyemi said: “He is the first sitting Brigadier General to be promoted to the rank of a Major General in the history of the 45-year-old the scheme. The Director-General attributed his success at the military examination to the collective support of the entire workers of the NYSC scheme nationwide.
“The NYSC boss has been in various capacities in the Nigerian Army and distinguished himself as an excellent officer and a goal-getter. He assumed duty in April 2016 as the 17th Chief Executive Officer of the NYSC and has since improved staff welfare and security of corps members across the country.
“His administration also expanded the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme through the establishment of more skill centres including the recently donated SAED Centre in Gombe State.”
