Nigerian singer Small Doctor has clarified the events that led to his arrest by operatives of the Nigerian police on Monday in Lagos.
Police had said the “Penalty” crooner threatened to shoot a policeman with a firearm he was possessing illegally.
However, in an interview with Punch, Small Doctor said the arrest was a misunderstanding.
“It was a case of misunderstanding and everything is settled. My fans need to know that I will not get involved in any illegality. The younger ones look up to me for hope and I will never let them down,” he said.
The singer went further to say that he has a licence for carrying a firearm and his Sunday concert in Agege will be heavily secure.
“As I said earlier, I cannot be involved in any illegal activity. There is no way I will hold a firearm without having a licence.
“My issue with the police is even a major reason for people to attend my Sunday show.
“There is no need to panic and we have invested heavily in the security of lives and property.”
