Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Akikulapo-Kuti, has said he prays to obtain a Grammy Award nomination for his album, “Black Times
Being among those considered for the best world album category of the prestigious music award, the singer in an Interview with Soundcity expressed his desire to get nominated and win the category.
“I really hope to get nominated and I hope we will also win. This album is my best work. Just like my shows, I make sure that my last album has to be my best album.” He said.
The critically-acclaimed “Black Times”, released in March, earned Seun Kuti his first ever entry on the Billboard music charts.
The descendant of the Kuti music dynasty will take the stage during the upcoming Afrobeat Festival alongside his Egypt 80 band.
Speaking of the festival, he said: “Everyone that comes out on that day will see a great performance, not just from me, I think from everybody.
“That day, we are going to play the best show we have ever played in our lives.”
The 2019 Grammy nomination announcement will take place Friday, December 7.
