South Africa Now Out Of Recession

The South African economy has expanded by 2.2 percent in the third quarter in quarter-on-quarter terms, and thus getting out of recession.

This was after a revised 0.4 percent contraction in the second quarter, according to the data released by the Statistics South Africa on Tuesday.

A poll on economists polled by Reuters had predicted a 1.6 expansion for the third quarter.

Further reports showed that the economic output rose 0.5 percent on an unadjusted year-on-year basis in the third quarter, in-line analysts’ predictions.
