Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the Nigerian Army of bias over the training of recruits of the State Neighborhood Watch.
Troops of 6 Division on a routine surveillance chased away new recruits of the security outfit from their camp at Nonwa Gbam in Tai Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The Nigerian Army in a statement on Thursday assured that all measures to forestall breach of security and safety of citizens were in place.
The statement recalled that similar illegal militia training camps were discovered and disbanded in Benue and Taraba States earlier in the year.
While reacting to the action, Wike decried the action of the soldiers when he flagged off the internal roads in Odiokwu in Ahoada West LGA.
The governor called for the immediate release of the recruits and their trainers that were arrested.
Wike also raised an alarm over purported attempts by the Federal Government to use security agencies to disrupt elections in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.
