Iconic Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji has made a call to the society to stop using dressing and religion as excuse to justify acts of sexual harassment.
She made the call on her Instagram page while reposting a write that addresses the issue of sexual harassment.
The award-winning actress mentioned that it has now become the fault of women that men are not taught from young to treat women with respect.
“Our fault that men are not taught from young to treat women with honour and respect and that little girls are taught to be ashamed of their bodies,” the actress said.
The write-up is about a Muslim woman, who was completely covered from head to toe and yet was groped by a man passing by.
“Recently I watched a video where I saw a Muslim lady get groped by a man passing by. I mention the fact that she is Muslim only to point out that she is completely covered from head to toe. And I remember thinking to myself, how are they going to spin this on her, surely she must have provoked this attack one way or the other.”
