The Federal High Court in Osogbo, on Tuesday, rejected the bail application of Professor Richard Iyiola Akindele, the former lecturer with Obafemi Awolowo University, accused by her student, Monica Osagie, of demanding sex to pass her.
Akindele was arraigned last week by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission before Justice Maureen Onyetenu, on four counts bordering on alteration of age and demanding sex to pass his student.
Though counsel to the defendant, Francis Omotoso, filed an application for his bail, the application was opposed by Kehinde Ayantoye, a senior legal officer with the ICPC, who filed a counter affidavit deposed to by a detective, Afolabi Oluwatoyin.
Justice Onyetenu said allegations contained in the counter affidavit were weighty and directed the prosecution to produce evidence to back his claim.
She ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody till December 17, 2018.
