Nigeria coach Thomas Dennerby says the Super Falcons will defeat South Africa in the final of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The defending champions booked a place in the final after recording a hard-fought 4-2 win over Cameroon on penalties in the semi-finals in Accra on Tuesday, while South Africa edged past Mali 2-0 to advance.
Nigeria had suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to Banyana Banyana in their opening game in Group B.
The win also confirmed both teams’ places at next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in France.
And speaking ahead of the final billed for Saturday, the Swede admitted that the attacking trio of Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega must be more ruthless.
“We have a very good chance to beat South Africa,” he said.
“It was really a tough game [against Cameroon], a lot of players are tired, it’s time for recovery and I will say we have a good chance to win in the final.
“When it comes to the final we will do whatever it takes to bring the cup back to Nigeria.”
