The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has said he is rooting for the Super Falcons to win the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations.
Nigeria had on Tuesday won 4-2 on penalties against Cameroon in a semi-final clash to book a spot in the final against South Africa.
The game had ended barren in regular and extra-time with Thomas Dennerby’s side sealing a ticket to the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup in France in 2019 with the win.
Reacting to the victory, Atiku who is a former Vice President, took to Twitter to declare his support for the girls.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the finals of the ongoing African Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said he’d be supporting them to win the cup.
“The Super Falcons are in the finals! I will be supporting them to win the cup. -AA #AWCON2018” he tweeted.
Nigeria will take on South Africa in the final of the competition on Saturday.
