The two sides had secured passage to the knock-out stages even before kick-off following CSKA Moscow’s 2-1 home defeat by Viktoria Plzen.

Also, English Premier League leaders Manchester City and Manchester United advanced to the next round of the competition.

While the Red Devils edged out Young Boys 1-0 at Old Trafford, Pep Guardiola’s men played out a 2-2 draw at French side Lyon.

Elsewhere, former winners Bayern Munich also booked a place in the last 16 with a 5-1 mauling of Benfica.
