Tension In Akwa Ibom As Sacked Lawmakers Take Over Assembly
Security agents spotted at the Assembly on Tuesday morning.

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is, again, under siege, four days after the police vacated the Assembly’s premises following an order from the Senate.

Concise News learned that five recently sacked lawmakers were escorted into the Assembly complex on Tuesday morning by thugs and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who chased staff out of the complex.

The development, this online news medium gathered, has created tension in the state with residents around the complex affected. The security agents have since commenced a stop and search on the residents.

It was gathered that the Chief Press Secretary to speaker, Luke Onofiok, was beaten and his phone snatched and smashed.

The five sacked lawmakers have the Assembly mace and are believed to be plotting to remove the speaker, suspend 21 members of the House, and commence proceedings to impeach the governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports has arrived the Assembly complex with some Youth Leaders.
