Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that the sickness that led to Carl Ikeme’s retirement is his biggest regret in charge of the team.
Ikeme was diagnosed with acute leukemia just before the start of the World Cup, stopping him from playing for the national team and his club, Wolverhampton.
Speaking during Monday Night football show, Rohr said the experience was quite painful and heartbreaking.
“If there is one thing I would say gave me the greatest headache, it was the sickness of Carl Ikeme, it was very disappointing,” he said.
Ikeme contributed immensely to Nigeria’s qualification for the last World Cup in Russia.
