The report stated that out of the 44 soldiers, no fewer than 43 were killed on Sunday in Metele, a remote village near the Nigerian border with Niger, according to a military officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Reacting to the incident in a tweet on Sunday, Sani, a lawmaker on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), said the solution to the continuous attack can’t be found in Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Washington or London but in Nigeria.

According to the Kaduna Central lawmaker: “The solution is not in Chad, Cameroun or Niger; it’s also not in Paris, London or Washington.

“The solution is right here at home; adequate funding, equipping and welfare of our troops; social security and insurance for their families; Resilience and faith in the battle and the struggle,” he tweeted.
