Thierry Henry finally won his first game in charge of Monaco on Saturday as Radamel Falcao’s brilliant free-kick ensured the Ligue 1 strugglers got the better of Caen.
Monaco, who won the French league title in 2017, had not won since 11 August and had drawn two and lost four since the Arsenal legend took over in October.
“I’m happy for the team, all the fans, we needed that, even if it was not a match for the purists,” Henry said.
“Style is important, in general, but… we can think about style later.”
It was the Colombian striker’s fifth league goal of the campaign but it did not lift the club above the relegation zone as they stay 19th.
“This is only the beginning, there are still a lot of matches and battles to come. I happy for the team, for the hard work they put in that for a while was not rewarded.”
