Otunba Gani Adams, the Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, says the Yoruba would back a presidential candidate that is committed to the unity of Nigerian.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former vice-president Atiku Abubakar are the two front runners for Nigeria’s highest office.
And the Deputy Director General/Chairman, (South) of the PDP presidential campaign Council, Otunba Gbenga Daniel led a team of some stakeholders in the Southwest to pay a courtesy call on Adams at his Lagos residence on Saturday.
“The coming election will be based on ideologies rather than partisanship or sentiments as it was in the past,” Adams said at the meeting.
He commended Daniel, who is a former governor of Ogun state, for ensuring peaceful living among the Yoruba, calling on all politicians to strive for the country’s unity at all times.
In his response, Daniel assured that he is convinced of the electoral promises of Atiku, saying the PDP candidate is “a thorough and visionary politician who is so passionate about the Nigerian project, a lover of the Yoruba people, a honest and true Nigerian who will not say what he could not do.”
