The self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, says he will continue to defend Diezani Madueke, former Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum.
Kanu, who gave this assurance in an ongoing live broadcast via radio Biafra, also said he will defend Olisa Metuh, a former National Publicity Secretary of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The IPOB leader said Madueke and Metuh are being prosecuted because they are “Biafrans”, questioning if any “Hausa Fulani” person has been tried in court in relation to fraud or detained in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the same purpose.
Kanu, who doubles as the director of radio Biafra said: “I don’t know who Diezani Madueke is but I know she is a Biafran and I will continue to defend her. I have defended her before. I will continue to defend Diezani and Olisa Metuh.
“The kind of money Ibrahim Lamorde, the former EFCC Chairman stole, Abia state cannot make it in 38 years. What about the grasscutter and Maina?
“How many Hausa Fulani have you heard that is in the custody of the EFCC or that is being tried in court for stealing?”
Diezani and Metuh are facing trial for alleged corruption during their time as Minister of petroleum and spokesman of PDP in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Meanwhile, Concise News reports that Kanu is leading a group seeking secession from Nigeria. The group has since been proscribed by the Nigerian Government.
