Senator Dino Melaye (PDP-Kogi West) have accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to use the N60 billion approved to support the rice industry for the 2019 election campaigns.
The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday approved the N60 billion subsidy to support the rice industry in the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbe, after a meeting of the National Food Security Council presided over by Buhari in Abuja on Friday.
Reacting in a post on his Twitter page on Friday, the lawmaker stated that he will monitor how the fund will be spent.
He wrote: “60 billion Naira Presidential approval to boost rice industry is fundraising for APC towards the 2019 election.
“We shall monitor using binoculars the disbursement and implementation of the funds.”
