Senator Shehu Sani (PRP-Kaduna Central) has mocked State Governors over their refusal to pay workers N30,000 as the proposed new minimum wage.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) had said there is no way state governors can afford to pay N30,000 as workers’ minimum wage.
Making this known after an emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night, the NGF said states would go bankrupt if they paid workers the proposed minimum wage.
Reacting in a post on his Twitter page on Friday, Shehu Sani stated that Governors would always have funds to invest in other projects.
He wrote: “There is enough money to pay elected officials.
“There is enough money to pay political appointees.
“There is enough money to pay campaign officials and foot soldiers.
“There is enough money to fund campaigns and elections.
“There is not enough to pay workers 30k wages without retrenchment.”
