Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has thanked fans for the love and support shown to him after a sustained a career-threatening injury during their Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
The 27-year-old England international promised to return ‘stronger than ever before’.
The player said this after undergoing two surgeries on his broken ankle.
Welbeck landed awkwardly in the 30th minute in the draw with Sporting Lisbon and required oxygen before being stretchered off the field at the Emirates.
In a post on Twitter, he wrote: “Back home… Thanks for all the love and support.
“No doubt I will be back stronger than ever before. Recovery grind starts now.”
