Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer recovered from his opening-day defeat by recording an easy win over Dominic Thiem on Tuesday at the ATP Finals.

He kept alive his hopes of advancing from his group with 6-2 6-3 win over the Austrian.

Federer, a six-time winner of this tournament, suffered a shocking loss to Kei Nishikori on Sunday.

He will next take on in-form South African, Kevin Anderson, who humbled Nishikori 6-0 6-1 earlier in the day.
