Former Presidential aide Dr. Doyin Okupe has revealed that his son his supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to spite him over an issue they had in the past.
Okupe, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known in a post on his Twitter page on Thursday night.
Concise News had reported that Okupe’s son, Ditan, had declared support for Buhari’s second term project.
In a letter he sent to Festus Keyamo, Buhari’s campaign spokesperson, the young Okupe, who is a lawyer, pleaded to join the campaign team of Buhari to ensure the president’s victory in 2019.
He described Buhari as the best candidate for the top job, adding that everything must be done to prevent the PDP and its cohorts from returning to power next year.
Reacting, Okupe said his son decided to support Buhari because of the conflict between them which dates back to five years ago.
He wrote: “Ditan Okupe is my Son. He is a very brilliant young man. He went to Kings College, Lagos, Buckingham University, UK and did post graduate in law at the London school of economics.
“We both have had serious issues in the last five years. This may be his way of getting back at me. I wish him luck.”
This is coming after the son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Abraham also decided to throw his weight behind the re-election of Buhari.
