Senator Shehu Sani (PRP-Kaduna Central) has commended the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and President Muhammadu Buhari over the agreement of the new minimum wage.
Concise News reported that the organized labor’s planned nationwide strike earlier scheduled to begin on Tuesday to press home workers’ demand for a new national minimum wage has been canceled.
Ayuba Wabba, the National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, announced the suspension following the end of the last meeting of the tripartite committee set up to come up with the new minimum wage on Monday evening.
Wabba said the planned strike was called off after agreements were reached and documents signed.
Reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Shehu Sani called for the quick implementation of the agreement.
He wrote: “Congratulations to the NLC for ‘waging war on wages and winning the war on wages’.
“The FG too deserves commendation for acceding to the popular demand of the Nigerian workers.
“PMB deserves a big Kudos.
“Next is the implementation to ensure that it’s for real & not deception.”
