The Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu) has directed its members across the country to commence an indefinite industrial action. The directive followed a meeting of leaders of the union on Sunday at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
2. Minimum Wage: Labour Shuns Meeting With FG
The Organised Labour, on Sunday, failed to honour the reconciliatory meeting with the Federal Government over the non-implementation of the N30, 000 new National Minimum Wage for the workers in the country. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said on Sunday that the meeting was part of the exercise that ought to be undertaken as part of the ongoing negotiation.

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for donating to other countries when many Nigerians are wallowing in poverty. According to the former vice president, Nigeria’s resources should be used for the country and its people and not as donations to others.
4. Fashola Speaks On Using Tax Payers’ Money To Fund Buhari Campaign
Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, says his Ministry will not fund President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 Presidential campaign. The minister, who made this remark while speaking in Sokoto at a 2-day retreat for Management staff of the Ministry, at the weekend, stressed that he won’t use taxpayers’ money to fund the President’s campaign.
5. Police Parade 19 Suspects Over Killing Of General Alkali
Nineteen suspects connected with the killing of retired Major General Idris Alkali, the immediate past Chief of Administration (Army), have been paraded by police in Plateau state. The remains of Alkali, who was killed in Jos, Plateau state, were on Saturday laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.
6. APC Governors Don’t Respect Buhari – Shehu Sani
The senator representing Kaduna Central at the Nigerian Senate, Shehu Sani, says governors on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have no respect for President Muhammadu Buhari and do not share his philosophy. Senator Sani, who made this comment in an interview with The Nation, stressed that the President is unable to curtail the powers of the governors and have succumbed to them.
7. Lagos APC Confirms Hamzat As Sanwo-Olu’s Running Mate
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has presented former commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in the state, Obafemi Hamzat, as the running mate to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governorship candidate of the party. The state party leaders made the official presentation of Hamzat as Sanwo-Olu’s running mate on Sunday at the party secretariat, Acme Road, Ogba area of Lagos.
8. APC Seeks Probe Of Atiku’s Meeting With PDP Leaders In Dubai
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked security agencies to probe the recent “strategy meeting” held by ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Dubai. Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2019 general elections, met with some leaders in Dubai recently.
9. Buhari May Retain Power In 2019 – USIP Report
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has predicted that President Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 presidential election. While noting that though many Nigerians stated that Buhari’s government had not met their expectations, USIP said this may not cost the All Progressives Congress its hold on power.
