Senator Shehu Sani (PRP-Kaduna Central) has lambasted the US Institute of Peace (USIP) for predicting that President Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 presidential election.
In a report published on the forthcoming election, the USIP also claimed that having a peaceful election in Nigeria will depend on the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
USIP said that although Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not met the expectations of many Nigerians, it will not cost them their victory.
But reacting in a post on his Twitter page, the lawmaker wondered why the institute chose to predict winner of the 2019 election instead of working for peace in troubled areas in Nigeria.
Sani wrote: “US peace institute should help in working for peace in our troubled spots or ‘predicting peace’ in our crisis-ridden towns and villages, instead of playing the soothsayer by predicting election results.”
