Former Ifeanyiubah and Abia Warriors head coach Rafael Everton has been appointed as gaffer of Akwa United, the Uyo-based side announced on Monday.

Everton replaces Abdu Maikaba, who left the Promise Keepers for Plateau United in October after the expiration of his contract.

The Brazilian was in charge when Ifeanyiubah won their only ever title, the Aiteo Federation Cup in 2016.

“I believe in my work and I believe I can win a trophy for Akwa United,” Everton said at his unveiling in Uyo on Monday.

“I like picking up new challenges, that pushes me to be great.”
