Former Real Madrid winger David Beckham says the club are not struggling, despite suffering five defeats in seven matches in all competitions this season.

Head coach Julen Lopetegui was fired on Monday after the European champions were crushed 5-1 by rivals Barcelona in a one-sided El Clasico on Sunday, 28 October.

Former player of the club Santiago Solari has been installed as head coach on interim basis.

The Los Blancos are ninth in La Liga and without a league win since September 22.

“When you’ve been so successful and you have a couple of games that you don’t play well, or a few games, people start talking about it. But they’ll be fine,” Beckham told newsmen in Bangkok where he was hosting a youth football clinic.

“Real Madrid is going through a certain change,” Beckham added. “I think all big teams go through difficult times.”
