The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has appointed Gambia’s Papa Gassama as the center referee for Nigeria’s game with South Africa in a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Nigeria will take on the Bafana Bafana in the Group E qualification clash on November 17 in Johannesburg.
Gassama, 39, officiated at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia and was in charge of the Super Eagles’ 3-1 win over Algeria in a qualifying game for the World Cup.
Nigeria are top of the Group E standings for the race to Cameroon having gathered nine points from four games.
On the other hand, South Africa have eight points from the same number of matches and had in June 2017, during the first leg of the tie, beat Gernot Rohr’s side 2-0.
A draw for the West Africans will see the three-time African champions hoist their flag for the soccer showpiece after missing out of the last two editions.
