The Senator representing Kogi West in the national assembly, Dino Melaye, says the senior school attestation of result presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by West African Examination Council (Waec) should be challenged in court.
Registrar of the body Iyi Uwadiae presented the document to Buhari on Friday at the State House in Abuja.
Buhari’s media aide Femi Adesina said the Council presented an attestation certificate and confirmation of school certificate result to his principal.
“Waec presents attestation certificate and confirmation of school cert result to President Buhari. What will the naysayers say next?” Adesina tweeted.
But Melaye, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic party, questioned the legality of Waec’s action.
”Attestation certificate, egbami ooo. Where in the roots of our extant laws is this tapping anointing from? Attestation ke! Haba kadan kadan ooo. Court must settle this Attestation wahala ooo. Not Army secretary again. Shame is foreign to APC,” he tweeted.
The President’s secondary school certificate has been a topic of discussion as he did not submit it to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of the requirements for the office of the President.
Buhari had claimed in his affidavit to the electoral umpire that his original credentials were with the military when he submitted his credentials ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had threatened to go to court over the issue.
