Nigerian-based players must work harder to get call-ups to the Super Eagles, according to ex-international Julius Aghahowa.

Aghahowa said that getting an invitation to the team was a privilege and the players (home-based) must see it as such.

Gernot Rohr has been criticised over his preference for foreign-based players for the three-time African champions.

During the 2018 World Cup, only one home-based player, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, made Nigeria’s team for the competition.

However, the former striker, who won a bronze medal at the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations in Mali, has urged the players to impress the coaches.
