Ahead of the presidential campaigns in November, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that its campaign will be focused on issues and solutions that have direct bearing on the welfare of Nigerians.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this known while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
The opposition party added that its campaign structure will be centralized for proper coordination.
He directed all support groups for the party’s presidential flagbearer, to work hand in hand with its campaign council in order to regulate the process.
“The PDP and our Presidential candidate will focus on ensuring security. We will focus on how to increase the purchasing power of Nigerians, as well as revamp our economy through strategic intervention in critical sectors, especially power, food security, road and railway infrastructure.
“We will also focus on education, energy, health, water provision, and labour issues, among others.
“The PDP will proffer direction to reduce cost of governance and release funds for development purposes; cut harsh tariff and tax regimes and eradicate corruption,” Ologbondiyan said.
“As you are aware, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled November 18, 2018, for the commencement of Presidential and National Assembly campaign activities ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“In this regard, the PDP wishes to inform Nigerian about the tenure, outlook and structure of our presidential campaign.
“Our presidential campaign will, therefore, be issue-based. We will focus on issues that have direct bearing with the welfare of Nigerians who have suffered enough hardship, pain and anguish in the last three and half years.
“Our campaign will, therefore, be strategically centralized and streamlined to ensure effectiveness and responsibility in our message content, dissemination and general engagement with Nigerians at all levels.
“In this regard, all support groups for our presidential campaign are directed to ensure that their operations and activities are approved and coordinated under the direct supervision of the party’s presidential campaign council,” he added.
