Shiites Protest Turns Bloody In Wuse 2, Abuja (Video)

The protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, has turned bloody in Wuse 2, Abuja, with several persons injured.

Concise News understands that members of the Islamic group were marching to the Central Business District of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, when they were stopped by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who fired gunshots and teargas to disperse them.

The group took to Twitter to react to the protest, alleging that a joint team of the Nigerian Army and the Police shot at its members.

“Joint team of and are currently shooting peaceful followers of Sheikh Zakzaky protesting in Abuja,” a tweet by the group read.

“Some casualties shot by joint team of Nigerian securities now at Wuse 2, in Abuja. The peaceful procession is attacked again today,” the tweet added.

Amnesty Nigeria also reacted to the incident, saying: “Reports of riot police shooting and throwing tear gas at protesters seeking the release of their leader in Wuse 2, and some parts of Central Area.”

It added that: “ Protests so far this week: Day One: Saturday: At least 3 killed by soldiers at Zuba. Day Two: Monday: Many murdered by soldiers and police in Maraba-Nyanya axis. Day Three: Tuesday: Shooting and tear gas on protesters by the police around Wuse 2.”

Today’s clash was the third the sect will be engaging security operatives between last week and this week.
