Super Eagles captain and former Chelsea man Mikel Obi has not retired from the team according to the team’s Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye.
Mikel has not played for the West Africans since the team crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
And coach Gernot Rohr did not include the Tianjin Teda man in the squad to face South Africa in a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier next month.
This has sparked rumours that the former Lyn Oslo of Norway man has retired from international football.
However, Ibitoye has said Mikel is still part of the team and has not revealed any plans to quit the three-time African champions.
According to him, Rohr has a very healthy relationship with the midfielder who still in the gaffer’s plans.
Nigeria are leading the Group E race for the 2019 African Cup of Nations having gathered nine points from four games in the qualifiers.
