The Adamawa State Police Command has said that Lawan Yaro, the man who climbed a billboard in Yola, is undergoing a psychiatric test.
Yaro, on Wednesday, climbed the 40-meter billboard to protest President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid, claiming there is hunger in Nigeria.
He had also vowed to commit suicide if Buhari did not resign in 12 hours.
However, a statement by the police in Yola on Thursday said Yaro was later persuaded to come down from the mast after spending eight hours.
“He has been taken to a hospital for a psychiatric test to be carried on him in order to verify his mental status,” the Command’s spokesman, Othman Abubakar, said.
