The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has called on the federal government to increase efforts at diversification of the nation’s economy.
This call came from the FIRS Executive Chairman Babatunde Fowler on Wednesday in Abuja at the annual meeting of the Nigerian Research Tax Network (NRTN).
According to Fowler, “There is now widespread recognition of the need to diversify the sources of government’s budget.”
He added that the diversification drive would help in building a better revenue base for the country’s growth.
According to the FIRS boss who was represented by the Director, Career and Skill Department Junila Takon, the NRTN conference is a convergence of stakeholders to showcase the best researches on the challenges of taxation and revenue in Nigeria.
