The managing director of Airtel Nigeria Segun Ogunsanya, says the telecommunications company has plans in the future to launch the 5G LTE network which has already taken off in some parts of the US and China.
Ogunsaya said this at the launch of Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) network in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.
The Airtel MD said the telecommunications company had set the pace in revolutionising “super fast” internet services in the country.
His words: “Technology is an evolution. As we’re launching 4G, we are thinking ahead. But I assure you that we’re not going to be left behind. That I can assure you,” he said.
Also speaking, acting chief commercial officer of Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh, said high speed connectivity is what sets the service apart from others.
“The 4G LTE is a step in the right direction. It is not just about having it in a few cities or isolated pockets but about having a widespread coverage so that you can experience 4G wherever you go,” he said.
“I personally hope you will enjoy this great 4G experience wherever you go in the country.”
Concise News recalls that Airtel did a pioneer launch of its 4G LTE service in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital in February.
The service has also been launched in various states and major cities across the country, including but not limited to the federal capital territory, Abuja, Enugu, Anambra, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Ekiti, and Delta.
