The money-laundering case of former governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose has been adjourned by the Federal High Court in Lagos till Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Fayose, who was arraigned on Monday on an 11-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The Prosecution Counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, prayed to the court to remand the defendant in a prison pending determination of his bail application.
However, the former governor’s Counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), urged the court to remand him in EFCC custody pointing out that the bail application had been filed.
After entertaining submission of counsels,
The presiding judge, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, after listening to the two lawyers’ arguments, ordered that Fayose be remanded in EFCC Custody.
The EFCC filed corruption charges against Fayose, accusing him of collecting billions of naira, meant for purchase of arms, from former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in 2014.
