The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday held an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies in the northwest state, following recent deadly clashes.

The governor had on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kaduna town and its environs, amid rumour of reprisal of the violence in Kasuwar Magani area of the state on Friday.

No fewer than 55 people were killed in the Kasuwar Magani violence that had a religious undertone.
