The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday reportedly impeached Deputy Speaker, Victor Edoror.
Edoror was replaced with Justin Okonobor, a former Speaker of the House.
Concise News had earlier reported heavy shooting in the Assembly premises on Monday.
It was learnt that the fracas at the Assembly Complex was caused when security operatives shot in the air to disperse angry supporters of the embattled member who allegedly attempted to stop the impeachment.
According to The Punch, the lawmaker, representing Oredo East, Osaigbovo Iyoha, said that the impeachment notice was signed by 16 members, out of the 24 lawmakers in the House.
Edoror, representing Esan Central constituency, was accused by the lawmakers of corruption, high-handedness, and desperation.
However, it was learnt that the impeachment may not be unconnected with an alleged plot by some All Progressives Congress members from the Edo Central senatorial district to remove the Speaker, Kabiru Adjoto, who hails from Edo North.
