Former Super Eagles defender Augustine Eguavoen has been named as the Technical Director and Head Coach of Greek team A.P.S Zakynthos.
The former Eagles head coach signed a one-season contact with the side that would run until April 2019.
He told Brila Fm that he was first contacted last season by a friend.
”He told me at the time that the club needed an experienced hand because of their financial problems,” the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said.
“But I held back until later this year, they were relegated to the fourth division and managed to come back a year later, but I was particularly sold on the Club’s vision after I spoke with the President.
“I wanted flexibility and so I asked for the Technical Director role, which also allows me time for developmental work.”
Eguavoen also said, “I can tell you that Nigerian Coaches are highly rated, but in the league with all my experience, I can tell you the League back home has not been favorable to me.
“But then again, Dikko [Shehu] is doing well with the job; of course Irabor [Nduka] laid the foundation.”
