Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is set to make its debut in Mexican League this weekend.
The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has approved Liga MX to use VAR in nine upcoming matches, starting with the game Atlas hosting Veracuz, two teams sitting at the bottom of the table.
As in other leagues, VAR in Liga MX will be limited to cases of penalty kicks, red cards, goals and cases of mistaken identity.
Other country leagues that have employed VAR include, Germany(Bundesliga), Italy(Serie A), Spain(La Liga), France(Ligue 1), Portugal (Primeira Liga) and the Netherlands(Eredivisie) and America (MLS).
VAR was in the World Cup 2018 and helped ensure referees had the best possible chance to make the right calls.
