Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has described the team’s 3-2 win over Libya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as a “huge test of character.”
Nigeria battled to a late win in the game in Sfax after throwing away a two-goal lead.
Having spanked the Libyans 4-0 in the reverse fixture on Saturday, the three-time African champions are now top of Group E standings with nine points from four games.
Speaking after the clash, Rohr said his team would not be carried away by the six points picked against the Mediterranean Nights.
“I congratulate my team for this victory. It was a huge test of our character,” Rohr said.
“We lost a two-goal lead but fought hard instead of dropping our heads. We will stay humble because we have not qualified for AFCON yet. We keep fighting.”
Nigeria’s next game in the qualifiers is against South Africa’s Bafana at Johannesburg’s Soccer City on 17 November.
