Senate Receives $2.8b Foreign Loan Request From Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a letter to the Senate to approve a $2.8 billion foreign loan request to fund the 2018 budget.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debt Shehu Sani.

Sani noted this on Thursday in a tweet on his handle where he noted that the Committee would be sitting tomorrow to look at the request.

Also, he disclosed that the Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed and the Director General of the Debt Management Office (DMO) Patience Oniha, would be on the ground during the sitting.

“Earlier today, the Senate committee I chair on Local and Foreign Debt received a letter of FG request for ‘new external capital Raising of $2.786Billion’ and additional $82.54Million,” he tweeted.

“The Committee will be sitting tomorrow.HMOF & DG DMO will be invited.”
