The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Muiz Banire as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was the National Legal Adviser of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Banire as AMCON Chairman and in a letter sent to the legislature, he sought the approval of the National Assembly for his confirmation.
Thereafter, Lagos Senators rejected his nomination after a petition was submitted to the National Assembly by Senator Solomon Adeola.
In his remarks, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, asked the lawmaker to lay the petition, and referred it to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.
Banire has already been screened on Monday by the Committee on Banking, but the Senate is yet to confirm him.
