Nigeria can produce food for 600 million people if it adopts the right technology, the Consul-General of Denmark Per Christensen has said.
Christensen said this recently in Lagos at a one-day Danish Food Tech Exhibition and Seminar.
According to him, Nigeria has the right climatic conditions, arable lands, and the population to produce more food than Brazil if it adopts technology in farming.
“Let me say that the agricultural development potential in Nigeria is bigger than that of Brazil when Nigerian farmers engage in technology farming,” he said.
“Nigeria can produce food for 600million people through the application of the right technology.”
He, thus, called on the Nigerian government to re-focus on agriculture so that the country can retake its position as a major food exporter.
In addition, he noted that Danish companies are willing to partner Nigeria in tech-driven farming.
