The Youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate (PDP) Atiku Abubakar to pick his running mate from the South-East.
Atiku on Sunday emerged as the candidate of the PDP following the party’s national convention in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Speaking on the development, the youth wing of the Igbo group said Atiku is the right man for the job.
“Majority of Igbo believes in Restructuring and majority of Igbo Youths wants Referendum because of the economic hardship in the country, we believe that Atiku whose campaign of restructuring will win the hearts of Nigerians and possible pair of running mate from South East Will quell the quest of referendum by agitators and Igbo Youths,” the group said.
“We insist that any betrayal of denying Ndigbo the Vice Presidential slot of PDP will make Ndigbo dump PDP in the Presidential election but will vote PDP in the Gubernatorial elections in Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu.”
According to the group, the SouthEast “has better personalities like Peter Obi, Ngozi Okonjo Iwuala, Sen Dr. Ike Ekweremadu and Sen Enyinnaya Abaribe who are fit for the Vice Presidential job.”
If further warned that the body would mobilize members to vote against Atiku if he does not pick his running mate from among the Igbos.
