Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Liverpool and Manchester City are still ahead of his side in the race to win the Premier League this term.
The Blues ran out 3-0 winners in a league game against Southampton on Sunday, moving them to the second position behind City.
However, Sarri said that even though the London side have not lost a game this term, it is pretty early to tag them as favourites.
“It’s the same that I thought one week ago. I think Manchester City and Liverpool are a step forward,” Sarri said.
“Now we are trying to cover the gap and we are working on that. I think it will be very difficult to cover so large a gap in one season.
“I think sometimes, not always, we can do better, they had two or three opportunities. We need to be in control of the matches.”
