It’s no longer news that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has won the Presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC in the 2019 Presidential election, but it remains to be seen who the electorates would find more appealing to cast their votes for come 2019.
Concise News had reported earlier that the former Vice President emerged winner of the party’s presidential primary with 1,532 votes while his closest challenger, Aminu Tambuwal, polled 693 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Abubakar commended his fellow contenders for displaying a sense of unity, a sense of purpose and a sense of commitment.
His words: “Today, we are witnessing a landmark event. A landmark event in the sense that since the rebranding of our great party, the PDP, and infact I daresay, since the return of democratic rule of governance in this country, we have witnessed the most credible transparent and fair primaries.
“Let me also commend my fellow competitors for displaying a sense of unity, a sense of purpose and a sense of commitment. This is a very rare event; my fellow compatriots have really shown that the interest of the party and that of the people of this country is paramount and more important than our individual interest,” he had said.
Ever since the returning officer of the election and governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa announced Abubakar as the winner of the PDP ticket, the narrative had since changed from the anxiety of knowing the outcome of the primary election to the projection of a two horse race come next year.
On the heels of this development, Concise News is asking our readers to comment on the name of the candidate they would vote for in the 2019 general elections between President Buhari and Abubakar
